Both Mt. Carmel Middle School girls basketball teams won their second game of the season, defeating Lawrenceville.

The 8th-grade team won, 58-2, after the 7th-grade team posted a 37-6 victory.

Mt. Carmel led at the 8th-grade game's quarter, 24-2, and at halftime, 36-2. Mt. Carmel took a 44-2 lead into the fourth quarter.

Tyra Buss led all scorers with 24 points. Alex Rosignol and Addy Wallbaum both added eight points. Julie Alka scored six, with Karina Speth and Reagan Keepes both added five points. Sydney Peterson finished the scoring with two points.

Mt. Carmel held a 6-0 lead at the 7th-grade game's quarter and was in front at halftime, 14-2. Mt. Carmel led after three quarters, 23-4.

Julie Alka led all scorers with 14 points, Callie Dunkel had eight points. Kelsey McGill scored six points, Brandi Metcalf scored five, and Emily Emmons and Sydney Peterson each scored two points.

Mt. Carmel will play Olney at Olney Central College at 9 a.m. Saturday in the OCC Shootout, then take on Robinson at Mt. Carmel High School at 6 p.m. Monday.
