John William Brown, 86, of O'Fallon, Ill., born Feb. 22, 1923, in Mt. Carmel, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Brown was a retired oil driller from Haliburton Oil Company in Mt. Carmel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh and Mildred Brown; and a brother, Gene Brown.

Surviving are his wife, Wilma Fern Brown (nee Deisher) of O'Fallon, Ill.; a son, Dennis (Nancy) Brown of Belleville, Ill.; three daughters, Patricia (Jim) Best of Ontario, Canada, Nancy Taylor of Naples, Fla., and Tammy (Jerry) Lund of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren, Kimmy, Tiffany, Nicole, Timothy, Paul, Danielle, Lindsey, Stephen and Matthew; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. Burial will be at Green Mount Protestant Cemetery, Belleville.
