Dr. G. Andrew Fischer and The Smile Center in Mt. Carmel is once again hosting the Sweet Swap this Halloween season.
With Sweet Swap, kids can donate their Halloween candy at The Smile Cneter for a chance to win prizes. For each small bucket of candy contributed on Nov. 3 and 4 (anytime during the day until around 6 p.m.), kids can enter to win a new iPod Nano, and a new girls bicycle and a new boys bicycles. All candy collected will be sent overseas to military personnel. "The local military family support group will help us get the candy to troops, who absolutely love to receive it," said Dr. Fischer, who noted a lot of kids "swapped" candy last year, as did adults who turned in candy "because it goes to a good cause."
Soldiers have called from Afghanistan and visited after coming home to Wabash County to express appreciation for the effort. Often troopers distributed the goodies to local people in the Middle East region while on the peacekeeping mission.
